Greetings Friends,

This is the first personal newsletter I’ve sent in several years. I have been using the Bridges of Peace and Hope (BoPH) newsletter to keep in touch with friends but have decided to send two separate mailings. If you don’t wish to receive this occasional email news please use the opt out option at the bottom. You will still receive BoPH news.

Celebrating 20 Years of Visiting Schools

The 2012 school year marks the 20th year that I have been visiting schools with my guitar to sing and tell stories, and to collaborate with students and teachers. I have known some of you since 1992 and others longer. I have been very fortunate to do the work I do and sincerely appreciate the support that so many of you have given me through the years. My sincerest thanks!

You Tube Video of Holidays All Around the World

Last year I wrote and recorded a new song called “Holidays All Around the World.” It’s a simple song that introduces children to the names of a variety of holidays celebrated by diverse cultural groups including Christmas, Hannukah, Ramadan, Diwali and others. The video includes photos of children and scenes from these holiday celebrations, and features a lovely vocal part sung by my wife, Ann Marie.

Please feel free to share the video with your students and friends, and sing it in school programs if you’d like. The song is also included on an updated version of my holiday CD “Season of Light, Hope and Peace.” The CD is available at www.johnfarrell.net

Holidays Concert at Danbury, CT Palace Theatre December 15

We will be doing a Bridges of Peace and Hope holiday concert on Saturday, December 15 at the Danbury Palace Theatre. The concert will feature wonderful musicians Jeff Miller and Scott Harper, joining me and many area school children. I’ve been doing benefit holiday concerts now for over 10 years. Thanks to everyone that has supported these events. This year we will be accepting donations to support BoPH and picture books to contribute to Reach Out and Read, a marvelous non-proft helping promote literacy through partnering with pediatricians and other health care providers. If you’re in the NY/CT area I hope to see you there on Saturday, the 15th. The show is at 11 a.m.  For more information visit the Danbury Palace Theatre web site at

New Web Site in the Works

I’ll be launching a new web site soon that will feature new video content and several new features making it easier to post news from my school visits, travel and collaborative projects.

Best wishes to you all for a peace-filled and healthy holiday season.

Love and Thanks,
