Michael Mark & Tom Chapin (ASCAP)
Saturday morning and the rain is pouring
Dad worked late last night, he’s in there
snoring. Same old stuff on TV, boring
So what if I can’t go out and play
I know what I’ll do today
Chorus
Oh, I’m going down to the Library
Picking out a book, check it in, check it out
Gonna say Hi to the Dictionary
Picking out a book, check it in, check it out
Now I like books and they like me
So when I go to the Library
I sit down in my favorite chair
And check to see who’s there
Maybe one book, maybe two
“Take me home,” says Winnie The Pooh,
“And if we have to travel far, I’ll bring
my honey jar.”
Chorus
Sleeping Beauty yawned and said
“I’ll come when I get out of bed.”
Madeline said “let her nap,” and jumps into my lap
The Cat in the Hat says “Hey. I’ll go.” “Don’t take
him.” Cries Pinocchio, “Don’t take that cat to your
address, he always makes a mess.”
Chorus
Mrs. Parker’s back behind the checkout desk today
The Cheshire Cat jumps on her head and says
“Let’s play!” But Mrs. P says “Goodness, are you
sure you want all these?” “Oh yes!” we
shout together. She says, “Shhh! Quiet please!”
Chorus
The Seven dwarfs begin to shout, “ Say, take us
with you. Check us out!” Then Cinderella gets her
gown and Babar grabs his crown. Then Curious
George swings from the shelf. Along comes Mother
Goose herself. Out the door we danced and sang.
The whole library rang.

Tales are meant to be told
Songs are meant to be sung
Each of us has a story to tell
There’s a story for everyone I know.
There’s a story for everyone
Chorus
How about you? How about you?
Do you have a tale you’d like to tell?
How about you ? How about you?
Do you have a tale to tell?
In the jungle I wrestled a lion
In the ocean I winked at a whale
In the desert I danced with a camel
And each one had it’s own tale to tell
Each one had it’s own tale
Chorus
In the sky I flew with an eagle
I helped a turtle clean his shell
In the grass I slithered with a
shimmering snake
And each one had it’s own tale to tell
Each one had it’s own tale
Chorus
In the barnyard I saw a horsefly
In the woods I was startled by a quail
In the night sky I watched as a comet
flew by And each one………

“Goodness gracious me!” said Hattie the hen. “I see
something movin’ in the bushes again. Think I’ll
move a little closer and see what I can see. There’s
a nose in the bushes, and it’s sniffin’ at me.”
Chorus
“Good grief!” said the goose. “Well well,” said
the pig. “Who cares?” said the sheep. “So what?”
said the horse. The cow looked around to the right
and left, rolled her eyes and said “What next?”
“Goodness gracious me!” said Hattie the hen. “I see
something movin’ in the bushes again. Think I’ll
move a little closer and see what I can see. The nose
has eyes and they’re lookin’ at me.”
Chorus
“Goodness gracious me………
The eyes have ears and they’re listenin’ to me.”
Chorus
“Goodness gracious me………
The ears have legs and they look fast to me.”
Chorus
“Goodness gracious me………
legs are connected to a hairy body.”
Chorus
“Goodness gracious me………
The body has a tail. It’s a fox I see!”
“Oh no!” said the goose.
“Dear me!” said the pig.
“Oh dear!” said the sheep.
“Oh help!” said the horse.
But the cow said “MOOOOO!”
so very loudly that the fox was
frightened and he did flee

John Farrell (Hope River Music)
I remember that cold Christmas morn
when I was nine years old.
All my family was at home
Except my Dad. He was off across
the ocean with a rifle in his hands
I never thought that Christmas day
could be so sad.
Chorus
Listen to the stories that the elders
have to tell, of the good times and
the hard times they have known
For the stories that they give to us
Are pictures of the past
And maps to guide us as we travel on
I remember when the first car roared
through town and scared our horse
It was black and noisy oh, we
loved it so. Last year they drove
a car like that through town in
the parade, and the young ones
laughed because it looked so old
Chorus
I remember when the steel mill
was the heartbeat of this town
Trains chugged in and out
Steam whistles screamed
Pat worked days and Jack worked
nights, we all worked ‘til the end
Now the mill’s shut down it all
seems like a dream.
Chorus
I remember when I met your Granddad
He was young and strong
And the kindest, sweetest man I’d ever met
Now he’s old and cannot walk
Sometimes he doesn’t know my name
But his strength and kindness
We must not forget
Chorus
John Farrell (Hope River Music)
I like ants, they make my Momma Dance
I like frogs and polliwogs.
I like snakes. I like to visit the zoo.
I like animals, and I like you and you
and you and you and ME a lot too!
I like lions. I like their curly hair
I like penguins. They’re so debonair.
I like lizards, and leopards too.
I like animals, and I like you and you
and you and you and ME a lot too!
I like elephants, and their long gray trunks.
I like spiders. I even like skunks.
I like koala bears and kangaroos
I like animals and I like you and you………
I like dolphins, they can walk on their
tails. I like monkeys, and I like whales
I like hippos and rhinos too.
I like animals and I like you and you………
I like ants verse repeats………
Tom Chapin & John Forster (ASCAP)
Before the days of Jell-O
Lived a prehistoric fellow
Who loved a maid and courted her
beneath the Banyan tree,
now they had lots of children, and
their children all had children, and
they kept on having children
until one of them had me.
Chorus
We’re a family and we’re a tree
Our roots go deep down in history
From my great, great Granddaddy
reaching up to me
We’re a green and growing Family Tree
My Grandpa came from Russia,
my Grandma came from Prussia
They met in Nova Scotia, had my Dad
in Tennessee. Then they moved to
Yokohama where Daddy met my Momma
Her Dad’s from Alabama and her Mom’s
part Cherokee.
Chorus
One fine day I may go to Tierra Del
Fuego. Perhaps I’ll meet my wife there
and we’ll move to Timbuktu. And our
kid will be bilingual and though she may
stay single, she could of course go mingle
with the King of Katmandu.
Chorus
The folks in Madagascar
aren’t the same as in Alaska.
They’ve got different foods, different
moods and different colored skin.
You may have a different name
but underneath we’re much the same
You’re probably my cousin
and the whole world is our kin.
Chorus
Poor old Uncle Don,
He’s got troubles low and high.
His roof has got a leak in it,
And his well has just gone dry
There’s no water in the kitchen sink
It’s on the bedroom floor instead.
And if he doesn’t fix that roof pretty soon,
He’ll be sleepin’ in a water bed
But Uncle Don is a dreamer
And he would never quit
So he closed his eyes, and scratched his
head, and thought about it a bit.
And when he was finished thinkin’
The answer was clear as a bell
He put a pipe underneath
that hole in the roof,
And ran it right down into the well.
He said
Chorus
Don’t give up! Don’t give in!
Even if you’re feelin’ down
And you don’t know where to begin
Dream of the stars
But start diggin’ down
Remember every tree that you see
Has roots deep in the ground.
Grandpa Jack was 93,
When his hands began to shake
He didn’t hear too well
But he still worked hard
In his bakery decorating cakes
A wedding cake was ordered to read
“I’m yours forever more.”
But the bride passed out
when the cake came in, it said
“You’re underwear is on the floor.”
But Grandpa Jack is a dreamer
And he would never quit
So he closed his eyes, and he went to sleep
And dreamt about it a bit.
And when he was finished dreamin’
He decided to change his style
Next day the ad in the paper read
“Cakes that’ll make you smile”
Fred Small (Pine Barrens Music)
Chorus
I want a hug (echo) when we say hello
I want a hug (echo) when it’s time to go
I want a hug (echo) cause I want you to know
I’m awfully fond of you
I want a hug (echo) what a wonderful feelin’
Want a hug (echo) just to feel you squeezin’
Want a hug (echo) yes it certainly seems
Like the natural thing to do
When I was a little bitty baby
child
My Momma used to hold me tight
My Daddy would come and pick me up
When I got scared at night
Now the years have passed
and I’ve grown so fast
and mostly I feel strong
But timid or bold, I’m never too old
To sing this cozy song
Chorus
Now some folks don’t like huggin’
They think that they’re too tough
I bet they’d be a whole lot friendlier
If they were just hugged enough
When you hug the ones who love you
An amazing thing you learn
When you give a hug, you just can’t help
But get one in return
Chorus
Sometimes grown-ups are grouchy
And they put the blame on you
Sometimes you make just a little mistake
Though you did the best you could do
And sometimes love is everywhere
And it’s a beautiful day
But anytime is the perfect time to open your arms
and say
Chorus
Carol Johnson (Noeldner Music)
Love grows one by one, two by two
And four by four
Love grows round like a circle
And comes back knockin’ at your front door
Note by note we make a song
Voice by voice we sing it
Choir by choir we fill up the world
With the music that we bring it.
Love grows one by one, two by two
And four by four
Love grows round like a circle
And comes back knockin’ at your front door
So let me take your hand my friend
We’ll each take the hand of another
Hand in hand we’ll reach round the world
To our sisters and our brothers
Love grows………
