Itâs snowing! Itâs snowing! The first flakes of the yearÂ
Itâs snowing! Itâs snowing! Soon winter will be hereÂ
Itâs snowing! Itâs snowing! Itâs covering the groundÂ
I hope it snows and snows all night so school will be closed downÂ
So light the lights and sing the songsÂ
The holiday season is hereÂ
The air is cold but our hearts are warmÂ
This wonderful time of the yearÂ
The cookies are baking, the air is smelling sweetÂ
The first batch is cooling, soon thereâll be some to eatÂ
The chimneys are breathing their smoke into the skyÂ
As flakes fall down and pile up our hopes begin to riseÂ
So light the lights and sing the songsÂ
The holiday season is hereÂ
The air is cold but our hearts are warmÂ
This wonderful time of the yearÂ
Itâs snowing! Itâs snowing! The first flakes of the yearÂ

Thank you for the sun that shinesÂ
Thank you for the stars aboveÂ
Thank you for the rain that fallsÂ
And thank you for your loveÂ
One by one we count our blessingsÂ
As we come to share this breadÂ
Let us gather round the tableÂ
May our hearts always be thankfulÂ
For each gift that we receiveÂ
One by one we count our blessingsÂ
With our friends and familyÂ
Thank you for the air we breatheÂ
Thank you for the food we eatÂ
Thank you for our familiesÂ
And thank you for your love
Thanksgiving Day has come and goneÂ
And Christmas is drawing nearÂ
So we dress real warm and we pile in the vanÂ
Just like we do each yearÂ
Weâre going to Samâs, the Tree ManÂ
He lives down a long and a winding roadÂ
Weâre going to cut one down, tie it on the roofÂ
Turn around and go back homeÂ
Yeah, weâre going to get our Xmas treeÂ
Itâs a family traditionÂ
Thousands of trees to choose fromÂ
So we inspect each ones conditionÂ
Everyone wants to be the oneÂ
To find that tree thatâs chosenÂ
But if we wait until we all agreeÂ
Our limbs will end up frozenÂ
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas TreeÂ
Calm and gentle evergreenÂ
A symbol of good will and loveÂ
But you make us mad and we act real meanÂ
We argue and we disagreeÂ
Everyone wants a different treeÂ
How we going to solve this peacefully?Â
Hot chocolate and diplomacyÂ
How about this one?Â
Itâs really greatÂ
Are you kiddin?Â
Thatâs way too tallÂ
Thereâs one over hereÂ
Itâs round and itâs fullÂ
Thatâs a beauty but itâs kind of smallÂ
I found it!Â
This is the perfect treeÂ
It might beÂ
if the branches werenât brownÂ
Hey, look over here, this tree is the oneÂ
No way! That tree is falling downÂ
ChorusÂ
When we get it home and into the standÂ
It really doesnât look so greatÂ
Thereâs a space over here,Â
itâs leaning over thereÂ
Maybe we made a mistakeÂ
Then we begin to put the ornaments onÂ
Add the candles and the lightsÂ
Put the angel on top,Â
And the gifts underneathÂ
And our tree is marvelous sightÂ
Some people like their treeÂ
to be just soÂ
The perfect shape and sizeÂ
Each branch, straight,Â
each needle the sameÂ
And the ornaments â synchronizedÂ
The lights must be spaced symmetricallyÂ
And at the top â a crystal starÂ
Iâm amazed by treesÂ
that look like thatÂ
But Iâd rather have a tree like oursÂ
Chorus
Itâs the Christmas playÂ
Itâs the Christmas playÂ
Hope I donât forgetÂ
What Iâm supposed to sayÂ
Here we are at last â âÂ
Standing on the stageÂ
Singing in the Christmas playÂ
Yesterday at practiceÂ
Things didnât go that greatÂ
Shepherds were fighting with the sheepÂ
And the wise men came in lateÂ
And angels wings got brokenÂ
Someone stepped on Josephâs toesÂ
And the kid who sings âGood will to menâÂ
Went home with a bloody noseÂ
Teacher says âItâs a miracle!âÂ
She cried and then she laughedÂ
Our one hour dress rehearsalÂ
Took two hours and a halfÂ
The microphone works â â sometimesÂ
The pianoâs not in tuneÂ
Rumor is first gradeâs got liceÂ
And the fourth gradeâs got the fluÂ
The kindergartners will be cuteÂ
If they donât trip on the stairsÂ
As tangled antlers twist and turnÂ
In restless reindeers hairÂ
Santa called to say heâs lateÂ
Heâs stuck in a traffic jamÂ
But weâre glad youâre here, itâs another yearÂ
Singing in the Christmas play
Somethingâs been on my mind
Iâm wondering how do you do it?Â
Where do you find the time?
How do you visit every kid
In this great, big, wide old world
Iâm wondering how do you do it?
Signed, your good friend, Earl
Dear Earl, Thank you for writing
Those are questions Iâm often asked
And although I look old and rather round
Iâm actually sort of fast
But it takes more than speed
To make it from Juneau to Japan
I can do it because you love me
And because you believe I can
Dear Santa Iâm writing a letterÂ
Thereâs something Iâd like to knowÂ
Where do you live? Where do you work?Â
Is there really a North Pole?Â
How do you make all those toysÂ
And dolls and games and clothes?Â
Iâm wondering how do you do it?Â
Signed, yours truly, RoseÂ
Dear Rose, Iâm glad that you wrote to meÂ
Now Iâm writing back to youÂ
I live and I work all over the worldÂ
From the North Pole to Spain to PeruÂ
I have lots of help making the giftsÂ
But youâre also a part of the planÂ
I can do it because you love meÂ
And because you believe I canÂ
Dear Santa Iâm writing a letterÂ
Thereâs something Iâd like to askÂ
I know you work hard all year longÂ
Do you ever find time to relax?Â
Make sure you take a vacationÂ
Play baseball or go for a swimÂ
And remember to take good care of yourselfÂ
Signed, your best friend, SlimÂ
Dear Slim, I enjoyed your letterÂ
It was real nice of you to askÂ
I do work hard but I play some tooÂ
If you donât time goes too fast!Â
Next summer when youâre on vacationÂ
If you see a fat bearded man with a tanÂ
Remember that anythingâs possibleÂ
If you love and believe that you can
Letâs go caroling, Christmas carolingÂ
Letâs go singing songs of the seasonÂ
Call on the neighborsÂ
and bring them a songÂ
Letâs go caroling now
Thereâs a little bit of Scrooge in everyoneÂ
A touch of Ebenezer underneath that grinÂ
Thereâs a little bit of Scrooge in everyoneÂ
So open up the door and let him inÂ
Christmas is a happy time, a time for reverieÂ
A time for celebrating with friends and familyÂ
A time for giving gifts, for sharing love and joyÂ
But it also is a time for getting grumpy and annoyedÂ
The days are short, the lines are long,Â
I dont know what to getÂ
I was gonna shop early, I havent started yetÂ
The dinner party might be fun but I donât want to goÂ
A white Christmas would be great without the snowÂ
(chorus)Â
Lights and decorations appearing everywhereÂ
As songs of the season float through the airÂ
Boxes from the attic, memories of the pastÂ
But itâs hard to enjoy it when youâre going so fast.Â
We buy too much, we want too much,Â
we eat too much tooÂ
We throw stuff away just because it isnât newÂ
We only want the latest, the biggest, and the bestÂ
Itâs no wonder that so many are lonely and depressed.Â
(chorus)Â
The ghost of Christmas past, recalls the deeds weve doneÂ
I shouldâves and I wouldâves that cannot be undoneÂ
Christmas yet to come Well itâs just a crystal ballÂ
Itâs the present thatâs our present itâs greatest gift of allÂ
So when youre feeling grouchy, when youâre feeling downÂ
Remember Ebenezer and the fortune that he foundÂ
He bought that that prize turkey, and then gave it awayÂ
He learned that lifeâs treasures are all within today.Â
(chorus)
In a small village way up in the mountainsÂ
The snow falls so silent and whiteÂ
Children are drifting on ships made of dreamsÂ
Their whole world is magic tonightÂ
Down in the city the bustling continuesÂ
As last minute workâs being doneÂ
Just one more present or one final callÂ
To reach out to one more loved oneÂ
Christmas is coming, yes Christmas is comingÂ
Itâs bringing us hope, turning darkness to lightÂ
Christmas is coming all over the worldÂ
Christmas is coming tonightÂ
In a large house that sits high on a hillÂ
A fireplace burns warm and brightÂ
Laughing and singing, exchanging fine giftsÂ
Their spirits are joyful and lightÂ
In a third floor apartment a family of eightÂ
Hold each other to keep themselves warmÂ
They say a prayer thanking God for His giftsÂ
And ask Him to help them be strongÂ
In a home for the elders who donât have a homeÂ
An old man hums old Christmas tunesÂ
He smiles and remembers when he was a boyÂ
Reindeer flew right across the moonÂ
Just down the road in a hospital bedÂ
A child hears his motherâs first songÂ
She sings âSilent Nightâ and they feel the same lightÂ
That was felt on that first Christmas morn
After waiting for so longÂ
Now the time has finally comeÂ
And I lie here in the darknessÂ
Knowing I should close my eyesÂ
But I canât, thereâs too much excitementÂ
Too many sounds on this silent nightÂ
Whatâs that?Â
Thatâs the clock upon the wallÂ
Are those footsteps in the hall?Â
Is that the sound ofÂ
sleigh bells jingling?Â
I think I hear the angels singingÂ
In the distance church bells are ringingÂ
Sounds of hope are everywhere tonightÂ
Quiet voices somewhereÂ
Somethingâs moving on the stairsÂ
But now my eyes are feeling heavyÂ
And the sounds are fading awayÂ
Now Iâm drifting like a snowflakeÂ
To a quiet, quiet place, quiet placeâŠ
Gotta get going, gotta keep movingÂ
Iâve got miles to go before I sleepÂ
Gotta get going, gotta keep movingÂ
Iâve got places to go and promises to keepÂ
All year long weâre waitingÂ
For this special night to comeÂ
Weâre working and weâre planningÂ
Thereâs so much that must be doneÂ
Making gifts, checking lists of addresses and namesÂ
We load the sleigh â â Weâre on our wayÂ
Itâs Christmas Eve again!!Â
Each year things get hectic as the seasons roll aroundÂ
Days fly by like shooting starsÂ
Leaves fall to the groundÂ
Weeks just seem to disappear like snowmen in the sunÂ
Until that bright and magic nightÂ
When time stands still again!Â
Thanks for the milk and cookiesÂ
They really tasted greatÂ
Iâd like to stay and visit but the hour is getting lateÂ
Sometimes Iâm like a candleÂ
Burning at both endsÂ
Then I look at you and it pulls me throughÂ
Iâm like a kid again
When you wake up Christmas morningÂ
Filled with love and hopes so highÂ
Remember what we celebrateÂ
Is the birth day of a childÂ
A baby born to parentsÂ
Who were far away from homeÂ
They were hungry, they were tiredÂ
They were scared and all aloneÂ
And then a light came shiningÂ
And all their cares were goneÂ
For like every child thatâs ever bornÂ
He made their hearts a homeÂ
Two thousand years have passedÂ
Since that first wondrous Christmas mornÂ
When the world was changed forevermoreÂ
Cause a baby child was bornÂ
And still that light keeps shiningÂ
It has blessed us all todayÂ
So like a child letâs live in peaceÂ
And follow in His way
My name is Francis Tolliver. I come from Liverpool.Â
Two years ago the war was waiting for me after school.Â
To Belgium and to Flanders, to Germany to here,Â
I fought for King and country I love dear.Â
It was Christmas in the trenches where the frost so bitter hung.Â
The frozen field of France were still, no Christmas song was sung.Â
Our families back in England were toasting us that day,Â
their brave and glorious lads so far away.Â
I was lyinâ with my mess-mates on the cold and rocky groundÂ
when across the lines of battle came a most peculiar sound.Â
Says I âNow listen up me boysâ, each soldier strained to hearÂ
as one young German voice sang out so clear.Â
âHeâs singinâ bloddy well you knowâ, my partner says to me.Â
Soon one by one each German voice joined in in harmony.Â
The cannons rested silent. The gas cloud rolled no moreÂ
as Christmas brought us respite from the war.Â
As soon as they were finished a reverent pause was spent.Â
âGod rest ye merry, gentlemenâ struck up some lads from Kent.Â
The next they sang was âStille Nachtâ. âTis âSilent Night’â says IÂ
and in two toungues one song filled up that sky.Â
âThereâs someone comminâ towards usâ the front-line sentry cried.Â
All sights were fixed on one lone figure trudging from their side.Â
His truce flag, like a Christmas star, shone on that plain so brightÂ
as he bravely strode, unarmed, into the night.Â
Then one by one on either side walked into no-mans-landÂ
with neither gun nor bayonet we met there hand to hand.Â
We shared some secret brandy and wished each other wellÂ
and in a flare-lit soccer game we gave âem hell.Â
We traded chocolates, cigarettes and photgraphs from homeÂ
these sons and fathers far away from families of their own.Â
Young Sanders played his squeeze box and they had a violinÂ
this curious and unlikely band of men.Â
Soon daylight stole upon us and France was France once more.Â
With sad farewells we each began to settle back to war.Â
But the question haunted every heart that lived that wonderous nightÂ
âwhose family have I fixed within my sights?âÂ
It was Christmas in the trenches where the frost so bitter hung.Â
The frozen fields of France were warmed as songs of peace were sung.Â
For the walls theyâd kept between us to exact the work of warÂ
had been crumbled and were gone for ever more.Â
My name is Francis Tolliver. In Liverpool I dwell.Â
Each Christmas come since World War One Iâve learned itâs lessons well.Â
That the ones who call the shots wonât be among the dead and lameâÂ
and on each end of the rifle weâre the same.
Moments of stillnessÂ
Moments of PeaceÂ
Call us to rememberÂ
The star in the eastÂ
Shining so brightlyÂ
All through the nightÂ
Calming our fearsÂ
In this season of lightÂ
Watching in wonderÂ
Giving in HopeÂ
Waiting for the childÂ
To welcome us homeÂ
Rest for the wearyÂ
All through the nightÂ
Joy in our heartsÂ
Itâs the season of light

Itâs the little things that I do tooÂ
Itâs the little things we do togetherÂ
That make this world a little betterÂ
Itâs the little things that we doÂ
Thereâs a little light inside of youÂ
Thereâs a little light inside me tooÂ
And when we put our lights together andÂ
Do the little things togetherÂ
We make this world a little betterâŠÂ
Thereâs a little song inside of youÂ

And when we sing our songs together andÂ
When we put our lights together andÂ
Do the little things togetherÂ
We make this world a little betterâŠÂ
Even on the coldest morning a little fire warmsÂ
Even on the darkest night the little stars still shineÂ
And even in the dead of winter beneath the frozen groundÂ
The little seeds lie waiting to start their upward climbÂ

Itâs the little things that I do tooÂ
Itâs the little things we do togetherÂ
That make this world a little betterÂ
